See with the head, shoot with the heart. A few years ago, I went into a studio with Joanne. We shot hundreds of photos loosely based on a vague theme.

I didn’t know it at the time but somewhere in the recesses of our minds, a narrative was forming. It would be many years later before I could see, and decipher it.

Sometimes, your mind sees things before your eyes do. That’s why I always recommend shooting with that, and your heart. The technical stuff that you’ve learned is very much secondary when it comes to creating work/art for yourself.
